The cold, dry air affected my throat greatly and I awoke around three in some pain and not feeling very well. We are all still on California time, going to bed a couple of hours later
as well as awaking a couple of hours later than everybody else in the
household. Glad it's vacation.
There were plans...really there were, but with the beautiful ice-gray
skies and the matching frosted roads, it was dangerous. The day was
spent with the Kelly and Dude, The Price is Right (it's Bob Barker's 90
birthday today! I think... Unless it's a rerun), more Frozen and a
beautiful child in my lap. Eventually we moved on to How to Train Your
Dragon, part 2. I'm not a TV person, I'm not a movie person. I had to
Get Out.
Ethan & I went on a walk outside... His first words were, "I love
the smell of Texas!" (It smelled of oil). It was 25 or 27 degrees...
Didn't feel like it, though. We walked around several blocks; Ethan
sliding around and me walking gingerly in my boots. The cold air felt
good and I felt so much more alive getting out of the house. Walking is
good medicine and always makes me feel better.
It has been a rough time for my sister. She takes on the pressures of
the world and carries them on her shoulders. The kids and cooked dinner
so she didn't need to worry. After, Ethan set off s
ome fireworks in
their backyard in our "January Post-New Year's Eve Illegal Fireworks
celebration".
Then, Ethan and I went on our night walk. There is something magical
about darkness and winter. We walked a country block and again,
childhood memories came rushing back. I want everyone to know how
special this place is to me...as well as all of the people. As I told
the kids earlier, this town has given me so many terrific memories. I
have a lot if horrible ones, too, but the great thing about a head
injury is that I'm unable to recall them. <smile>. It's the
little things...
