The Day Before. Hours
could not pass by quickly enough today, and boy oh boy did I ever feel every
minute. I may just be imagining it, but
it felt very tense to me today. Now mind you, I still ask
questions in a pseudo-chipper voice, but the complete discounting and apathy
has me to the point of wanting to run away.
Because I have a teaching credential (though I explained it isn’t
special ed), it was suggested to me that I apply for the teaching job that is
opening up in our department, but that would mean having to work with more this
individual, and while this would be terrific for a career in, say Switzerland
(where I’d start at an equivalent of about 100K), the pain and anguish isn’t
worth it for me. Nope. 54 more hours and I am OUT.
I didn’t get a phone call all day about the bus and had a
bad feeling, so after I picked up Ethan (Mags had a track meet), we headed to the
mechanic, were there she sat…unmoved. “I
told him several times I have a road trip tomorrow morning!” I said, and so…I was told it would be worked
on, past closing time if need be. Ethan
and I headed home and started a few things at home, but then it was time to go
get Mags after…
…a quick stop at the shop where Lizzie was up getting her
oil changed. The ignition switch had already been changed,
so after about 20 minutes (and some lovely conversation with sweet little Rylee
about Mr. Potato Head’s eyes), the bus was ready. I paid, grabbed the keys, and off to see Mags
on the same track I’m on every day. We
needed to get beans for nachos from this Mexican place (plus my usual there),
then off to this Mexican place for c hips (where they know my usual
there). At this point Maggie laughed at the
way they all know exactly what I’m there for.
We raced home to meet Carol so she could take me to the shop to grab my
sweet Lizzie
Lizzie was READY! The
engine sounds fantastic and she is raring to go on this adventure with me. . I
picked up some 20-50 oil, just in case, then bought stuff at the grocery store
for the stuff I’ll be contributing to our gang.
24 burritos and hot sauce, plus a few odds and ends. I still have the 8 beers from Europe last
year that I’ll be giving to them (whoever them
are) for their beer contest. It might as
well go to good use as I paid over $100 in overweight luggage fees to get it
here.
Tired. It has been a
helluva day. Very emotionally squashing
at work and then just huge relief at being able to go to my Hipnic with my
people in my Lizzie. I knock on wood she’ll do ok. Need to increase my AAA toe miles to 100,
though, just in case. I will be writing each night, but because of reception, I doubt I can post. It'll be up Monday, though. :)
