August 6, 2014

• After a summer of sleeping wayyyy in, I was pleased to wake up 4 minutes before the alarm went off.  I noticed Maggie's "floor moping job" especially well in the morning light: she had used Pledge.  "But it's wood!"  "No, sweetie, it's laminate.  Pledge won't soak in and it'll be super slippery."  Thus, one of Ethan's jobs today will be re-mopping.

●Ethan & I took another bike ride after work/training.  My ass (or “sit-bones”, if we’re talking yoga) is sore beyond reckoning and I am grateful I’ve never done anything as crazy as a spin class, because I would have killed myself.  Ethan and I are doing much better now after our near collision-and-broken bones experience with Monsieur Tour de France.  I'm also very close to a 90% success rate in correctly calling out "on your left!" or "on your right!"  Either way, they know we're coming. That's the main reason Ethan’s in front: not because of safety as much as he really knows his left and right and I’m not quite there yet.

●Picked up Mags and we headed home for a while before she needed to go to tumbling class.   Received a call from the practicum site and it was just as I’d feared…my work schedule conflicts with the time I’d need to be at practicum for supervision.  On a bright note, she said they really liked me and did not feel anyone else would have fit as nicely as I would have, so she just won’t have anyone.  Hopefully, if things are meant to be, something will change so I can intern there.  In the meantime, I think I can intern  somewhere on the weekends and I’ll get a few hours at work. It’s gonna be a busy time.  Off to take Mags to tumbling.  She is in a different school now, further away, but I like it better and if, perchance,  I need to stay, there is a coffee/café/bike shop right next door.  Reminds me of the days Angela told me about the Laundromat/bar.  It’s a good concept, especially now…we are seldom doing only one thing at a time now, anyway.

●Home,  where, we took the pups to the park quickly.  Windows were open and Annie was so excited that she jumped out of the damn window as I drove past the park.  <smash my head against steering wheel as I wonder about the assortment of animals I end up with..Violet is the most normal of all…>  Ethan worked on his tennis serve to hit Mabi’s ball as she ran like the lightening dog she is…with Annie hopping behind her and then jumping over her as if in a circus act as they ran back.  Once we were back in the comfort of my kitchen, I made my very first curry from scratch as I proudly realized I had all the necessary ingredients.  Oddly enough, Maggie loved it and Ethan wasn’t too fond of it.  So…It’s 7:30…Ethan and I race back to bike one more time.  The sun was this amazing Maraschino  Cherry Red, unlike anything I have ever seen before.  The filter I used on the picture doesn’t even do it justice.  The bike ride was gorgeous and my “sit-bones” are now done for.  Today was supposed to be arms but I’m sure it’ll be okay this once.  Saturday we all head to the kid’s school to help out and get some cleaning down.  After the over $200 spent on required school supplies, I’m adding labor for even more parent hours.

●And thus,  tomorrow is the beginning of the new school year.  It shall be wonderful to see some faces I’ve missed over the summer but I had hope to have much more accomplished during all the free time.  The next few months will be very interesting in several ways…<cue cryptic messages>  I must remember there are lessons being thrown my way at all times…as long as I am aware.  I felt something shift in the last few days….  Excited to see what happens.
