Yesterday a friend from
Lee High who lives
in Arkansas got in touch with me and suggested we up halfway and plan on biking, camping, kayaking and
doing "hippie stuff." That sounds fantastic! I love adventuring and am looking forward to this. ☺️ Woke up with plans to
hit Davis on our biking adventure when I read a fellow Mother Hipper had tix to
the NLDS series game meet tomorrow and thought...why not?! So, as a week-early 10 year birthday present
to myself, I got 3 tickets!! Talked to L( gotta make sure it's ok to take kids out of school for a day), who is excited for us (he's a
Dodger's fan, though), talked to my co-worker, she said to text her the
scores since she'll be in C102. VERY EXCITED about this. I was at the
game-winning 2012 NLDS series and this time I'll have the kids with me. LOVEloveLOVE sharing sports with tribe. Kids and I loaded up the bikes and headed to Davis. Found a parking spot
right away. I love this town - so bicycle friendly.... IF we are in this
area when the kids go to university (cross fingers no, cross fingers no), UC Davis would be grand - no need
for a car, just a bike.
We headed to the campus and I remember all the Mother's Days the kids
and I would go to the Whole Earth Fest and spend the day in happy hippie
heaven. It hasn't happened the last two years because of Hipnic, but
this year, Hipnic is the week BEFORE Mother's Day, so Life will be
Grand. We rode around the Arboretum, I almost lost it and fell in the
river, but yay for quick reflexes! We headed off towards our favorite
place, The Dumpling House. The owner is something out of a
movie...simply amazing. We rode around more to find fro-yo and a little
something for me (cupcake and coffee). There were sorority sisters all
over the place, it was pledge day. Maggie wanted to know more, and
since I wasn't one at TCU, I asked one and embarrassed Mags to no end (YES!
Job done!).
Across the street was a festival of some sort -of course, it's Davis,
and we hung out a bit and then my sister called. My heart goes out to
her: so.much.stress. We headed back and decided a cherry-limeade
sounded best, so I headed north of Sac to Sonic. It's a good day. Back to
the home front, where we got some bones for the pups to chew on, money and filled-up the tank for tomorrow's journey to SF.
Mountains of laundry: folded. Jeans cut into jean shorts: done (still
with the accuracy of the "old
days"), Doctor Who episodes (old ones):
watched. Ohhhh, Life is sweeeetttt. It was an excellent day and I'm SO excited about tomorrow's plans. Haven't had my heart thump like this since..2012.<grin>
