I am proficient at stepping in dog shit. I seemingly find it without effort (or rather
it finds me) . Try as I might in avoiding it, it's always there, therefore I’ve taken
steps to ensure I am free of it by leaving specific
shoes (those I wear to work) by the front door, rather than wear them out back. . This morning, of the entire area I walked, it
was goose poop I managed to unknowingly find.
I wonder what the symbolism is behind that?
I had the great honor of holding and caring for a crying
baby today. He name was Eva and she
lives at my school. It was fabulous
hearing that cry; I immediately started rocking and singing to her, remembering how I would sing to the kids when they were babies all
the time…I sang so much. One weekend
when Maggie is with me, I’ll borrow Eva and let Mags care for her over the weekend. What a great experience and pre birth control
option (granted, she’s a tad young).
I headed down the freeway to my eye appointment. I thought about school the other night when we
were talking about dream cars. When I
mentioned mine was a VW bus, the man said, “And you wonder why they call you
a hippie…”. “But my bus has flames painted
on it and it’s lifted!” I smiled (not really, though, that would totally kill it). The fancy–right-for-my-
astigmatism lenses made my eye pound, so
I went back to my old ones – not as strong, but they fit like a glove. I am one screwed up person…even my eyes have
attitudes.
After this and an on-phone appointment regarding my life insurance,
I headed towards Sacramento’s Korea Town to a store a student told me about at work today – he mentioned the imports and my eyes glazed over. When I walked into the market, I was speechless..more
countries than I’ve ever seen, or products, anyway. I loved it.
Kiddos and I now have one
store we can go to when we pick a culture.
I ended up with noodles from Germany, tortillas from Mexico, naan from
the India, mini-wontons, tofu from
Japan, pho soup from Vietnam, oatmeal
from Russia, wonton wrappers from Fresno, California, mineral water from Germany, mineral water from
Russia, gyozas sauce from Japan, lupia from the Philippines, fruit- filled candies from Europe, olives from
Spain, baba ghanouj from Lebanon, chocolates from Russia, soups from somewhere, I think Korea…cardamom chai from India, cardamom black tea from somewhere
that's not here… and mango pineapple balls for Ethan from the Philippines, just because I had to, and we will giggle….
So I came home, to whip up some Indian food with halal/kosher
naan, drink some Russian mineral water and put on some Dexter. I cut myself some long bangs because this hair-poof thing I have is driving me nuts. I hope Nicole isn't too mad. I have a week off. I want to get some homework done tomorrow, then off to dinner
and a music show. This is gonna be
good.
Pictures: These are from a hike the kids and I took near Capps Crossing in El Dorado County in November 2013. We need another one of those, soon....
