November 9, 2014

The problem with taking a luxurious nap in the afternoon is the lack of sleepiness around bedtime.  Starting up Dexter at 11:30 (because it’s a weekend) was also a faux pas on my account, because it was towards the end of the first season, which always ends with a big bang and thus, I ended up watching the rest of the shows, because I can’t leave poor Deb hanging.  Ashamedly, bed time was around 3:30.  I woke up fairly early, considering…around 9:57, give or take…and was thrilled to see I have a dinner date with Mr. Scott Thunes  in Folsom.  Yay!  I also quickly purchased my Christmas tickets for both nights in December (“One, please.  Yes, for both nights.  No, one ticket, each night”)  <sigh>  Looking very forward to that.  Pleased that my HMB5 crew shall reunite and I’ll bring the beers I got from Europe as “thank you.”

I spent the morning working on a mini-assignment for my assessment class and it was no coincidence that a friend contacted me and we were discussing confidence (which I often lack) and …assessments, namely Briggs Myers.  I know, according to that, that I’m an introvert (fer reals) , but I need to try it again.  My sweet neighbor came over and we hung out for a while…me completely naked under my robe.  That’s why I love this guy so much, because I know I’m totally safe.  He offered to take me out to The Independent to celebrate my birthday…  I’ve never been there..that would be nice.  <3

Took pups to the park, where two little ones were ever so amused with them and the two pups and two children played hard.  Then I dropped pups off and headed downtown, telling myself, “Only ONE book, only ONE book!!” , yet as fate would have it, they had a marvelous set of 20 Charles Dickens for sale from 1868.  <look of shame>  I KNOW I have a book problem, but HOW could I walk away from this?:  Once school is finished and I have more free time, I will lots of time to read.  On the flip side, I need to insure my books.   I love my books.  <warm fuzzies>

Across the street to a new eatery – The Farm Table <I know, I have been quite gluttonous this weekend>   They make their own breads every morning, their own pate, the have fresh local produce.   I had a ham and cheese (Uncured ham and brie on freshly made focaccia which was divine.  My little town is finally emerging as a rad little place.  Slowly, one by one, little stores are opening which offer an important and much needed service to this area.  Headed to the antique store where I saw one of the seniors who looks like he’s in his mid-20s…  I acknowledged him and headed to the back where thousands of records are stored.  Didn’t look too hard, because I’m not an idiot and realize when it comes to the arenas of books, good food and music, I have no self control.  I keep forgetting Mags and Ethan are on Instagram and I was therefore busted by Mags, who called me out and said I need help.  <thrilled to have vices once again>
Headed home where I excitedly found a new home for Charles Dickens.  Some of my books will go on the floor, more stacked onto the table.  Time to get comfy, threw on some Grateful Dead at Fillmore East and chatted with a friend from boarding school, so long ago.  This man truly inspires me.  He gave me the biggest compliment this evening – said I was the coolest person he knew.  <smile>  THAT is an honor….  Thank you, kind sir <bows humbly>  I am happy today, I am content.  There is a glorious energy in the air and I feel it.  I am grateful today for what I have, and even grateful for what I do not have.
