This morning was a lot more relaxed than yesterday's,
but I still woke up around the same time. There was a great deal of boring tasks I wanted to get
accomplished today (folding laundry, paying bills), but more important and exciting task was clearing an area for the bus when it
gets here. I only have a carport and a third of it is for the bikes
lawnmower and the weed-eater, so I wanted to clean out the shed and
get
rid of stuff that I'll be selling to make room. I also managed to fit into some shorts which are a little risky during this time of the year, but I think I am past the point of really caring. If I can fit in them , that is all that counts.
The great thing about getting Mabi the ball thrower for Christmas is that once in a
while she actually gets the ball in and so it throws the ball... but she and
Anna and get so excited waiting for it and Annie's noise... oh my
goodness. She's a very vocal dog and that drives me crazy. I wish the
kids (meaning Ethan) wouldn't have opened up the box early, showing Mabi what it is. First you need to train a dog to put the ball in
the correct place, but that point is moot now...she tends to drop the ball in front of where it should go, so
we end up putting it in the right place. We are still needed for the self-sufficient ball-thrower..it's pathetic.. Today, I worked a little bit on teaching
her the word "in", which she did get a couple of times but still…
I have six boxes of Montessori material. That's not even counting my
binders with all of my work in them... those are inside. I was contemplating
keeping a lot of the stuff as backup for Europe, but I think I'm just
gonna sell it. In the next couple of months, I am going to have a "moving
sale" to prepare for moving, but it's a lot of really high quality stuff.
Ethan's drum set, which we never sold, racks for bikes, beautiful candle
holders: a pewter and a glass one, a lithograph, a painting, I have some original handbills from famous dancers, I have a 1957 calender with the most beautiful prints to frame. Because of various relatives, I have
more drinking things like lovely sherry decanters with etched glass..that
type of stuff, but I can't get rid of those because it's from my family.
So, it just sits in my cabinet. One day I'd like to have all my beer
glasses from Europe displayed, by then I'll probably be back in Europe again... I
don't know.
I got everything cleaned out, did a lot of physical
activity today I went through a lot of childhood stuff again.. each time I
get rid of more and more. I'm doing quite well. I also went through a lot of
the Montessori stuff to see what I should throw out old work notebooks) and what I should keep for the sale. Tons of Practical Life stuff and a soundbox... I found a lot of quilt, which
I'll put inside the bus. I'm not sure how to
decorate it inside yet, but Heather Sabol said she would help me make new
curtains for it! very excited about that!
I'll be in early night.. tomorrow the whole circle begins again.I'm very excited for spring break. Want to head somewhere with the kids in the bus. Maybe Utah. We liked Moab. I need to find knock-out drugs for Annie, though. That dog gets way too excited....
Picture: Annie is plumb tuckered-out from the excitement of supporting Mabi with the auto ball-thrower.
