March 27, 2015

Only a few more hours and then we go pick up my bus!  I can absolutely do this!! I got up and instead of yoga, I hit the rowing machine.  I should probably read the instructions so I can learn how to operate it better, there may be various levels I can set.  Off to school on a beautiful day with a little Nirvana.  I love the Bleach album…nice and grunge dark.  The day was fairly calm and seemed to go by much faster than anticipated.  That is always good news.

At home, Brently was ready and we headed off to the shop.  Mike had done a little research into the bus and had gone by a friend’s specialized auto shop to learn more about it.  I was pleased and she seemed definitely no worse for the wear with her little dehydration experiment. I headed right to the RV shop where I was able to find the sink piece I needed.  I also bought a fan which will have to be hooked into electricity (12V).  I asked them to fill up the propane for me, and it was already full.  The personalities at this shop though?  Pure asshats.  I’ll avoid it in the future if at all possible.  Next I went to Auto Zone and this is a place I enjoy.  The gentlemen at this store are always very helpful and polite with a “well, let’s go outside and take a look!” At the RV store, I had to walk outside to take a picture (my bus was on the other side of the store window, feet away from the guy) to take a shot of what I meant – he was that unwilling.    At AZ, the manager helped me out and was amazing.  These guys rock and I’m always excited when I leave this place.  Off to a thrift store to look for Corell dishes, but I ended up getting a Revere Tea kettle and two tv thin tray tables for the bus. I’m EXCITED!!!

At home, I worked successfully on the sink and managed to get the auxiliary battery hooked up, only now I am not sure how to tell if it is working. I may have to charge it more. These are the little things where I am learning, so it will be cool once I learn who my fellow bussers are.  Brent, my neighbor and friend…NOTHING ELSE, called and we headed out for sushi.  **This is the part where a part of the inside door came undone.  It’s a constant…which part will break off today?  Brent was thrilled to be riding in the bus and was screaming with joy as I drove down the freeway.  <smile>

Sushi was fun – we got all you can eat, which meant I had to eat at least 3 to feel I was coming out ahead.  As much as I like American Ichi, I think I am more of a Sky Sushi person…not exactly sure why.  Brent (who had lived in Japan for 2 years) had fun speaking in Japanese – to which the Mexican sushi chefs would respond in (under their breath) in Spanish.  I did the same – always answering “Si!”  It was fun, but I can certainly say I’m glad as hell I’m sober.

At home, I declined the invite to go karaoke singing with Brent and his brother – I never even did that when I was drinking.  I was tired and wanted to order a few things for the bus.  Watched some episodes of The Office, then found the service manual and another repairs book for Lizzie which I ordered.  I also started a list going of the parts I’ll need which are breaking off inside.  I’m getting a horn…I chose the lower sound rather than the high pitched sound.  At almost 40 years, Lizzie has matured.  I hope to catch up to her soon.

Pictures:  butterflies everywhere on this incredibly delightful smelling tree (shrub?); Obligatory sushi photo.
