In the midst of severe back pain, it hit me this morning that the pain
always coincided with sleeping. It's obvious I need to get a new
mattress, which devastates me.
This tragic news however, didn't make such a difference when I saw I had
received a phone call from Bugformance: .my alternator is in! I sped up my morning, headed to the shop to pick up my old alternator
and headed to Sacramento. Bugformance was cool but I forgot what I needed and should've checked for a window regulator. Still, I got my alternator
and sun visor and headed back home. I passed a car accident where a
woman had smashed the whole front end of her car into the concrete
divider but people were helping and she seemed fine... just in shock. Hopefully the EMTs showed up shortly thereafter.
Once I got home the kids and I committed straightening up the house. I
only had a couple of hours before I needed to go pick up the car as
Mike told me to be there by five. It was rather frustrating with the
boy, however. He was fine for 3 days at a friend's house, yet last night at
bedtime, however, he was suddenly overcome with such a bad sore
throat. Oh my...
My neighbor graciously offered to drive me to pick up the bus at 5, yet
as we pulled up, my bus was still there, looking Not Ready. Second time
they could have called, but didn't. Frustrated as hell. Next time, it's
going to German Auto Werks. All this stuff wouldn't have happened there.
So screw it. I asked the kids if they wanted to tent camp and got a "yes!" It was s
super fast pack (I forgot socks and a few other things), but we found a
great place in the forest, all alone in a nice clearing under an almost
full moon. Perfect. Until...... April's Fools Day on us. A few minutes to midnight, I heard the fire crackling, looked out of my tent and saw the boy trying to warm up. He was sick. I also saw frost on the ground as the temp was at 28 rather than the predicted 39. Not good. Executive decision and I woke Mags up - we had camp torn down in 15 minutes and were headed home. It was a fun adventure while it lasted, but with my remnants of frostbite and a sick kid, it couldn't happen tonight. Next time.
Pictures of our camping adventure.
