I can’t write my usual 5-a-Day…my heart is too saddened by
what I experienced today. As nice as it
was being able to counsel several of the family members who came to me, in the end,
my tears fell, too. It was a beautiful
picnic – newer generation gathered donations for the celebration through GoFundMe
and gathered enough for over 500 balloons, there were picture boards up, Tshirts,
car-stickers, and tons of food.
I understood the difficulties of a blended family, I saw how
painful it could be – pouring your love into a child not yours and then…you are
nothing but a shadow.
I saw the difficulties of being a sister and losing that kid
brother who was your right hand and suddenly…you are alone. No more memories to create.
I felt the difficulties of losing a child, a child you have
bonded with and created such a special relationship with.
It was a sorrowful day, this, his 27th birthday. As the balloons were released, a musician
played “Purple Rain” in the background and the sun’s rays lit a path to the
heavens…
“I never meant to cause you any sorrow, I never meant to
cause you any pain…I only wanted to see you
laughing in
the purple rain…”. Happy Birthday Jonathon Long
