March 21, 2015

I hated where last night ended up – yet a good night’s sleep did wonders for both of us.  After my morning, I prepared heading to Bella Capelli to have my hair done, which is a treat as I go months and months between sessions.  I was excited to see Anna, Ryan and baby Cameron there – somehow Anna and I have had the same day appointments the last two times, so hopefully this will be our continued meeting time.  I showed Anna and Ryan the bus with the pop-up, too.  Great talks – lots of processing. It seems that actually I should try to go to Burning Man – so I created a Burner profile and am on the List to get tickets.  Might even bring Maggie -  who knows.  I enjoyed this morning very much and Nicole made my hair beautiful!!!!  Now to meet a hot guy.  <wink>  Ohhellno....

I picked up Maggie in Cameron Park and we headed to Auto Zone…until suddenly…we weren’t.  The heading stopped and I pulled over on the side of the busy freeway.  Rats.  I knew this was going to happen.  Fortunately I had the charger, but it didn’t seem right that the battery would die while I was driving. I had Maggie call L – no answer, so I called AAA and within half an hour, the tow truck pulled up.  Very handsome guy, very polite guy…very helpful guy.  We talked about VWs and engines and he brought us to a garage where an alternator could be put in right away…except dude wasn’t there, so he dropped off the bus  and delivered us home…saying he would pick me up and bring me back to the garage if I couldn’t find a ride.  He gave me his cell number, he smiled a lot, he opened and closed the door for us…he honked 3 short bursts as he pulled away and waved.  Now, I don’t know….is he flirting, or is he just a very friendly guy?  Maggie swore he was flirting…said he kept looking at me and smiling, etc.  He’s so young!  Surely in his late 20s early 30s.  Good grief.  So, needless to say I am hoping a friend can bring me to the shop because I would be terrified to call him.  Truly.  I had just finished getting my hair done and hearing horror stories of relationships, any type of a relationship other than friendship with a man is too much for me.

After we were delivered by the the gentleman, I made a peanut butter sandwich (I was hungry) and slowly headed down the hill to have my front-tires-so-worn-there-is-metal-poking-through changed.  It was a frightening drive and I never went faster than 60.  Sure, it was tricky and there were crazy people behind me who thought I was insane, but I couldn’t risk a blown tire.  They remembered my tires from late December before the Texas road trip (HOW?!?!)  and I also made some new friends here.  Things in my Universe are pointing towards automotive, it would appear.

At home, I was treated to a 4 minute egg and made-from-scratch pancakes with burning candles, lovely flowers on the table and an episode of The Office.  Oh, Dwight.  The kids and I headed to AutoZone then to touch base with my new buddies there and I was treated to some really cool VW info which can help me learn how to do more on my own (with more success than I’ve achieved lately.  My frustration was turning to excitement again.  We headed to the river and played in the gloaming for a bit.  Ethan brought blinking dog thingies, so we always knew where the pups were.  Maggie and I danced to “The Figure 11” and “Chum” as I taught her waltz steps.  As we left, about an hour or so later, we went to The Sierra Nevada House and had dinner.  First time there, despite being at the rover so many times in the past.  It wasn’t bad at all. There was actually a man using some bad language who saw me glare at him (which is really somewhat funny considering my language at times, as Maggie made sure to point out, but don't worry, I justified it!) and he came outside to apologize to us!  Wow.  High five to this guy.  I was very impressed.   Drove home to the Grateful Dead playing live on the radio – always a good sign.  I wish we could just run away….Run away from my Monday morning at work…with 42 days still on the calendar.

I’ll write my paper tomorrow…No picnic on the bus tonight, no snapping shots of bugs with the macro fish lens Ethan made (though he shot one of a ladybug while Mags and I were waiting in the bus on the side of the freeway), no celebrating the equinox somewhere far away in our Lizzie Mae.  Probably no making of petit fours tomorrow, either, as I’ll be writing, but that’s ok.  Everything works as it should, even my Sweet Little Lizzie Mae.
