March 11, 2015

The alarm wasn’t exactly music to my ears, but I was excited because today was “Take Lizzie Mae to Work Day.”  I got a little homework completed and was looking forward to yoga.  This is a first in a while, yet I have been walking so much, eating carefully and I feel my shelfs disappearing, my muffins are no longer and my blood is sparkling through my body (I can feel the cells vibrating).  This may very well be a result of the VW, because since Saturday, my life has been just about perfect.  The pone thing I can complain about is the carpet here – the pee spots just keep on coming and I swear the dogs are trained….

It is past the point of understanding.  Sometimes you simply have to remember that these people LIVE in this state and stop questioning your sanity.  Honestly, the pre-schoolers were much less frustrating because they have age and little-life-experience as an excuse. I was so proud of Lizzie Mae at school.  She sat there quite nicely and didn’t pick on any of the other cars.  She’s so rad. After work, I headed to go fill ‘er up at Chevron (with Techron), but the gas tank (a locked metal one) had been looped in on the wrong thread, so it was stuck and I couldn’t get it open.  “Oh, you!!”, I said, with my sore fingers (those metal keys dig into skin) and after a few minutes, I left.  I wasn’t on empty, but I just thought I’d get it done there. Clearly Lizzie had other plans.   At home, I got some gardening gloves and went back at it.  I had it open in minutes and learned I can’t “push” it in, I have to just set it carefully and twist. I  got a few things necessary for class and headed off for fill ‘er up attempt #2 and class.  At the corner, the motor shut off as I had messed up with the clutch, so I somehow just popped the clutch (I have no idea how) and the engine started up again).

Underway, I tried closing the window, however while it goes down easily, up is another issue.  The window handle broke right off (cheap China metal).  This is the third item.  I think I can go ahead and order some replacement parts now or go by to see if I can by some from German Werks Auto shop (he has a lot of spare parts).  <sigh>  No worries, really.  As long as the engine is in good to decent condition, the rest is icing.  I practiced on my shifting.  It has been quite some time since I had a manual car.  After class, as I headed home, I thought of my dad and how he would shift in the Porsche.  I can still hear that Porsche Targa 911 engine and it actually helped me know when to shift.  There is no RPM gauge in the VW, I shift when it sounds/feels right.

I stopped off at Winco to pick up a few things for Ethan’s party, though another boy may not make it.  Out of the 3 he invited, only 1 is a sure thing.  He’ll have fun, though – I booked a foursome at paintball.  I may be the 4th party.  I swear the stop lights know and turn green…people slow down and look at the bus and smile.  It may be because I’m rocking out to CRB… I need to grow my hair longer and wear a daisy crown.  Seriously.

When I got home, I walked into my room, and swear I smelled Zurich.  It was just like walking into Tanti’s bedroom so long ago.  Lots of Memories are visiting me today and I like that.  It was a lovely day today.
