The morning was a nice one – because it could be, because I didn’t have anywhere to be. This, in itself, gets an A+. I spent a leisurely hour plus in bed.
Once I was up – I thought I might get something accomplished…but
I really didn’t. This is why I wrote “I
thought” rather than "I accomplished."
Wouldn’t want to send the wrong message.
I eventually did some cleaning and organizing, then I split the 2
gallons of kombucha into2 separate
flavored containers – black cherry/mint and grapefruit/ginger. I also made a salad for the evening plans,
which were to have dinner at Doris and JJ’s home in Auburn prior to heading to the Strawberry Festival. I used up the tomatoes, chopped jicama, added
basil and Kalamata olives and done! I
decided to wear my white strapless dress, meaning no bra, which is fine by me
other than I fear accidentally yanking the dress down too far one day. I’m sure it will happen, but hopefully it’ll
be a night show.
Around 4 I headed to go buy a bottle of wine for Doris and
JJ, withdraw some money, look fervently for Tom <nowhere to be seen>,
then head off to Auburn. I did end up
missing a turn near their home and saw a home with cool metal work art in the
front yard. I loved their neighborhood! Very private – like a gated community, yet
without the gates. I knocked on the side
door, and Neomi was the first one there.
“GIRLFRIEND! GIRLFRIEND!
GIRLFRIEND! She screamed for a solid 2
minutes (I am not kidding) and we embraced like two long-lost friends who had
not seen each other in a week since Hipnic.
Doris’s garden amazed me and made me miss my garden from long ago
<marriage>. Soon Angela and Jarrod
were there with their two kids and we had a lovely dinner. Fortunately Angela also brought Reese’s peanut
butter cup pan cookies, quite similar to the blondies she had at Hipnic. I had another sweet to devour like a starving
t-rex.
Thanks to Jarrod’s excellent time-keeping skills, we were
able to get our of the house on time and head to the Grass Valley fairgrounds. These
fairgrounds are incredible beautiful, but what I didn’t understand was the sea
of chairs in the center and a very limited area for the people who like to
stand at a show. This makes no sense to
me – who the hell sits for a
show??? Anders Osborne was up soon after we got
there. That man moooovvess. The standing
audience moved, the seated people? They
looked odd. I saw Claire up front – she was
at JJ Gray and Mofro last night - how incredible. I’m glad I didn’t make plans for that as I
had a client. Sam Bush was up next – incredible skill on the mandolin and
violin (fiddle).
Still – I wish it had been a shorter Bush and longer Osborne
show. That’s just me, though.
We headed out immediately – got back to the house where
everyone said goodbye and we all headed home.
I enjoy the drive on the 49 at night listening to The Black Crowes. - very Monte Carlo – though being sober has a
great deal to do with it. I also managed
to devour 5 more pan cookies which isn’t very wise, but let’s all remember my
Adam Ant personality….
