June 13, 2015

It was SUCH a beautiful night's sleep.  Lizzie Mae held me in her arms like a long-lost friend and my body was so grateful for that.  Guitar strumming from a nearby camp tickled my ears and the occasional barking dog joined in.  It was a good morning, yet my Self was still holding back in anticipation.  Soon, "Public Me" would take over and right now, I'm still exhausted from the last week.  I'm not that person who races from here to there without issue and that was what I had been doing in the last two weeks…possibly the last three years.  I need to slow down.  After a breakfast of sausage and eggs, I sat, waiting for my coffee to boil and thought of sitting at the bottom of a river and meditating.  Breathing in and out slowly with the regulator and finding momentary peace.  I found more peace sitting at the bottom of the river/lake/pool than I have found in some time.  Maybe this is a sign that I need to return to meditation.

After a good while relaxing in the bus, I heard Victoria's bus open and decided it was time and I joined life outside.  Talked a bit with Victoria and wandered off to go find Shari.  She, Keith and I had a wonderful conversation about politics, neighbors, work. People would join us, others would leave, it was a lovely fluid situation.

The day show soon began – a Hips  acoustic set.  Many people have mentioned how they have never seen one.  I have been fortunate enough to have seen three in the last 5 years.  I consider myself honored. People were talking, though and Greg, very diplomatically, told them if they wanted to talk to take it outside.  I was lucky to be sitting alone, so I was not a talker.  It was a great set.  After the show, I found Scott out back and showed him Lizzie.

I walked around the area aimlessly.  My body was sooo tired, but I couldn’t, I couldn’t,  I couldn’t… "nap," so I decided to lay down for a bit, but it felt so good that soon I Fell Into Nap.  I missed the first few songs of Hips again. This time the house was FULL.  Locals packed the room.  Still, I had to find Shari, so I made my way up front – she was nowhere to be seen, but I saw Erin and claimed a spot by here – right in front of Scott. This weekend has topped many and is in my top 5 of all best.  John Hofer's smile symbolized what a terrific groove they were in.   Old songs played this weekend that haven't been heard in years.  After, I spoke with Cassie and Adri (from the band Extra Classic –she gave me their CD.  Love it!), gently topping off an incredible music-filled weekend.

It was time to go to bed – even though my head was so wired from one of my Best Days of Music. I considered going to the “Adult Section” where the campers were, but I knew I owed it to this old body to give her the rest she needs, so I went back to my Lizzie.  I made a cup of lemon honey tea and prepped coffee for the next morning.  I read a bit of The Alchemist and then…gently…I fell.

Picture:  Victoria sent me this shot just as I was about to post pictureless.  It is me showing an unidentified musician my Lizzie!!!
